Hi, yes I'm on the look out for more old curtains. I think a darker bag for winter. It was a bit of an afterthought to put on the embroidery and I'm happy how it turned out. S xx
That is beautiful the embroidery adds a nice touch. Well done on your prize for the bon bon dish. When I was a girl my mother had so many pieces of starched crochet around the house, your dish has bought back some wonderful memories, Thank you.
That looks wonderful! The embroidery detail is such a super touch...and can you believe I've been looking at old curtains and wondering if they would work for a rucksack!? How bizarre - but you've proved to me that it does work, very well too! Chrissie x
Hi Chrissie. I've had some great comments for it. I used quite stiff interfacing to help it keep it's shape and it is lined. If I make another I would use larger eyelets and perhaps add a zip pocket to keep keys in, oh and add a little but more embroidery detail. Give it a go, I'd live to see how it turns out. S xx
Lovely! And it seems that we have been going similar ways: salvaging old fabrics and creating something new from them! I love your rucksack, and that little birdie is perfect!
Have a lovely weekend!
Yours, Mia
P.S. I wrote an another comment earlier, but it went...somewhere! So it multiple ones turn out...Well more the merrier?

That's so nice! The embroidery on your bird turned out lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The embroidery is a bit free style, glad I did it, especially the bead detail for the eye. That's noticed first.

ReplyDeleteThank you. I've picked up a plain red jacket, just wondering about adding some embroidery to make it unique. Watch this space.

What a wonderful use for this fabric. Really embodies the William Morris quote about things being beautiful or useful. In this case it is both.
ReplyDeleteThank you, what a lovely comment.
