Hi, sometimes life just gives you what you want. I am putting together a new course for night school in Shap;
sewing for the home. As all things vintage are in vogue, I looked around for a pattern for a peg bag which looked like a little dress, but couldn't find what I was looking for.
A neighbour is downsizing and asked if I wanted her old 1950s Singer sewing machine, of course I said yes immediately. Isn't she beautiful?
She also had this bag of goodies.
And would you know it inside folded up was a paper pattern for a peg bag.
I soon set to work, and here it is, one cute peg bag.
Ready for the students in my class to make.

What a lovely neighbour to have, and obviously it was all just "meant to be"! I love your new machine and the little pegbag is just gorgeous. Have fun teaching the class,

Thanks Gilly. I have met some great people running these classes.

I wish I had a neighbour like that. The sewing machine is a delight and the peg bag, a wonderful creation for students.
ReplyDeleteI feel really privileged that she thought of me. She has just found a whole load of buttons too. As she said she knows they are going somewhere where they will be loved.

What a little treasure trove :-) I need a peg basket too, must get sewing!
ReplyDeleteThe machine looks amazing, does she run well?

Hi Nicole. Yes the machine runs well, they were built to last in those days. She is heavy and quite noisy but so much easier to use than those new complicated ones. As long as all you need are basic stitches, they are ok.

What a lovely machine, great colour! I recently inherited an old Bernina and have had so much fun playing around with it. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteMy main machine is a Bernina. It was bought for my 21st birthday
