Hello all,
Didn't feel like getting up this morning when I heard the rain beating on my windows, but now the sun has been spotted peeping out from behind the clouds and there is a smattering of blue sky. I've taken a photo as it's such an event.
A lot has happened this week.
My friend's husband came round yesterday and pruned my apple tree. I've no before photo but there is a lot more light around in my garden and some bewildered pigeons.
Thursday class went well and we discussed Amigurumi. Research led me to discover that it has only been popular since 2003. It's one of the projects I like to make as it is good at using up your small scraps of wool.
I've also signed up for Ravelry, loads of patterns and ideas for knitting and crochet, as well as Pinterest where there is so much lovely stuff.
I've also taken a mighty jump and put some items in my Folksy shop. I opened the shop last year with a couple of items, but have never sold anything. Now I have more time on my hands I have taken the decision to add more stuff. I think that making things to order may be too stressful for me at the moment so I will just put things in the shop that I make as I go along. I feel like this is a brave decision for me, but if you are not out there, they don't come knocking at your door.
I've also had time to do some stitching today, to join in with Chrissie's stitching Sundays. But this is something different - have you heard of punch needle. I received a kit as a gift several years ago and have managed to finish it today. It was very quick and easy to do.
This is the back.
This is the front. It's a kind of proddy rug made with three strands of cotton floss instead of rags.
Making samples of tunisian crochet for the class this week has also taken up some of my time.
Hope you have a great week.

I love your cat! It's effective.
ReplyDeleteI had high hopes for today's weather. Then the hail came and I gave in. Bah! Humbug. Roll on spring.
At least it's better than snow. The instructions in the kit say to gently wash it but I'm not sure it won't come undone. Have to think of some way to display it now.

Oh I do like your punch needle work, what a lovely cat! You're having a busy time with this and that and I wish you the best with your new agenda - change and stepping out can be a very good thing! Hugs, Joy x
ReplyDeleteThank you Joy, once I'd mastered the punch tool it was quite speedy to make.

What a sweet cat! The back looks as neat as the front! Good luck with your Folksy shop, keep us posted and enjoy the making! Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteI was always told to make the back as neat as you can and try to stick to it. No sales in my shop but plenty of views, will keep at it.

I do like your black cat. Punch needle looks fun, and very time consuming. I once hooked a very small full size rug, and it took me ages.
ReplyDeleteHi, Welcome to my blog. Been to visit yours, adore the knitted houses, very clever.
DeleteIt really is quite small so didn't take that long once I'd got started. Yes I made a readicut rug years ago and it took me nearly a year to complete, but i suppose back in them days I had many other things going on in my life.

Dear S
ReplyDeleteYour black cat is really effective - congratulations! Good luck with all your other endeavours and the Folksy shop too.
Best wishes
Ellie
Thank you Ellie. There's no good in waiting for the world to knock on your door.

I love the punch needle! I did some last year, but have never got round to doing any more. Congrats on opening your shop. I sell something occassionally from mine!
ReplyDeleteHello Wendy and welcome to my blog. I feel very honoured that someone with as many followers as yourself is following mine. Good to know someone who has sold on Folksy.

ReplyDeleteThank you Josie. I'm on the final bits for the waistcoat, back and both fronts complete. Just need to stitch together and do the edging. But it in my WIP pile waiting with other things for its final flourish.
