Look who I have been reunited with .......
It's my first ever sewing basket.
Not looking too bad considering its age (I'm a lady so I won't divulge), and the fact that it has been in my father's shed for many years too.
And what's inside?
An eyelet making tool, and eyelets,
And some vintage linen threads.
Hey basket, it's nice to have you back :-)

What a sweet basket full of memories! And what will you do with its other contents? Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteYes the memories did come back. I remember taking it to my grandparents' on Christmas Day and Santa had filled it with sewing goodies and felt kits. I think I may try crocheting with the linen threads.

My work box is like that! I was looking for my sock blockers and found a letter to my pen pal I started writing months ago! I felt awful!!
ReplyDeleteSnail mail???
DeleteOne of the advantages of new technology is that it's unlikely you will mislay your iPad.
It's only a little dinky box, will bring to knit and bitch on Tuesday.

How lovely for you to have it back again - those vintage linen threads look very interesting! Hugs, Joy x
ReplyDeleteI suspect my parents are having a grand clear out as I've been 'gifted' with loads of stuff just lately. The threads are something I hadn't seen before. I wonder what they were used for?

How sweet and how lovely to have found it again. This makes me very nostalgic for a little Easter basket I used to have with some cherries on the front.
ReplyDeleteI've got an Embroiderers Guild meeting a week on Tuesday, wonder if I should take it along. I'm sure many of the members will have previously owned something similar.

Oh, you must be close to my "vintage"! I still have my sewing basket too, the same style as yours but with a pink trim, and it has the very same eyelet tool inside, also with a red trim.
ReplyDeleteI do love those linen vintage threads, none to be found in MY sewing basket.
No comment on the vintage :-) I seem to remember it had bright red paint where it is a mucky brown colour now. I was so proud to own it. Now I have lots of tins, bags, suitcases and crocheted baskets in which to keep my treasures.
