Is it really the end of summer :-(

Just realised its officially the end of summer, so I decided to take a walk round my garden and record some of my flowers, before I have to clear the flower beds.

Have you ever seen a branch as full as this one with plums?

These apples are Egremont Russets, my favourite. Could be one of the reasons I bought my house.

Garden going to look rather dull without these geraniums.

Hope the sun is shining wherever you are.

  1. It's a bit sad to see the lovely blooms die off isn't it - but just like us, they need a rest and recuperation time!
That plum tree is loaded - do you thin out your fruit to enable the tree to produce bigger plums/apples/whatever?
Our first day of spring has arrived today and all is still and quiet but winter did not go without a big fight yesterday with frighteningly high gale-force winds that caused electricity supplies to be cut for several hours!

    1. Hi Joy, your spring is round the corner. I don't think of Australia and the winter somehow, but I guess it's such a huge place. I don't thin out my fruit, perhaps I should. But they are a fair size anyway. Not seen that many for around nine years. My apple trees are getting out of hand too. Need to spend more time in the garden, but crochet gets in the way.

  2. Yip, there is a definite feel of autumn in the air... Looks like you will get a good crop of plums from that tree.

    1. I've sent an SOS round and family and friends will soon make short work of the picking. My sister makes the most marvellous plum and ginger jam.

  3. Your garden survived the summer much better than mine did. We had some very changeable weather here and it effected the plants quite badly. Autumn can definitely be felt now. The evenings are so much cooler than they were.

    1. Yes much cooler, nearly lit the fire tonight. I've had my disasters too, woke up Saturday morning to find my sun flowers lying on the patio. And they'd not even flowered yet.
