Rugs and slippers, but no pipe ....

Jessie's Needle has been busy but has found time to:-

Start a proddy rug.

This was started after a visit to The Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry in Kendal where I met a lady who was demonstrating this craft and allowed me to give it a try. Brilliant museum, well worth a visit.    www.lakelandmuseum.org.uk

I have also started to make a pair of Ffaerie Slippers.

I'm a member of Appleby Textile Group, we meet once a month. This month we welcomed Lucinda Allwood who gave us a talk about gold work. At the workshop the next day I made one slipper and have enough supplies to make the other one.

Just have to find time to make the other one.

  1. Love the look of the rug, is it Hessian as the backing? I have quite a bit left over from Christmas & I'm sure I have a pattern somewhere in an old book. We are planning a visit or two to the Lakes this year & I will definitely be visiting the museum. Your slippers are very pretty x

    1. Hi Joanne, the backing is a piece of old sacking I've had hanging about for a while. It's quite easy to do, I'm using up old t-shirts so that its soft underfoot. The museum is well worth it and there is an art gallery on the same site.

    1. Hi, it's about 3" in length. I'm hoping to get the other one made sometime soon. Until then I'm calling it Cinderella's lost slipper.
