Contender for the longest WIP ?

I wonder if this is a contender for the longest work in progress?

Back in the 1970's my mother got some free patchwork templates on the front of a magazine. I wanted to make a patchwork cushion and set to work raiding her fabric stash, then ........ Life got in the way and it lay lost and forgotten in the attic.

Three years ago I rediscovered it and tried to finish it off.
Two years ago I bought some cushion pads
Three months ago I bought some curtain material from my local charity shop
And today, I've finished them.

Have you got any WIPs that have taken this long?

Love the vintage patterns. Some I remember as being dresses and pyjamas which my mother made when I was younger.

  2. How terrific - when the project was started those fabrics certainly weren't vintage! It must be the longest-running WIP, congratulations for actually finishing it! Cx

    1. Thank you, it's rekindled my patchwork phase. I've got some great fabric scraps, I should start another - or maybe not, think I should start on something a bit smaller then it will get finished.

  5. I LOVE IT!!! I have a patchwork quilt with the hexies and it is rolled up somewhere waiting desperately to be finished. Gosh you made me laugh with the jigsaw comment - hilarious! Also a really good idea....

    1. Hi Kate, once you have your book finished you might find time to complete it. I think the jigsaw idea was something from my past. One of the neighbours I used to babysit for used to make soft toys for a photographer who made jigsaws, and she helped me to make my own soft toys.

  7. I've seen many hexie patchwork cushions but I have got to say that none were as gorgeous as these. They are certainly my favourite. I love the colour combinations of the vintage fabric and that you made groups of flowers. I think that I'm going to have to steal that idea from you if you don't mind!!:)

    1. Hi Rosie, no I don't mind you stealing the idea. To be honest I think I was going to do flowers, but when I joined them together they weren't making it square. Probably one reason I put it away. It was one piece as my idea ad been to make a quilt and I separated them before adding the border, back and zip.
