What to do on a wet bank holiday Monday. Well what else but get out a WIP. I started this one a few weeks ago and have to have it finished by early July. This is when our Embroiders Guild are meeting to make our work into hand bags. I'm not good at working to a timescale so to avoid a last minute panic I took advantage of having a whole day to myself and finished the embroidery part yesterday.
It's gone from this
To this
I've used a variety of stitches; running stitch, French knots, stem stitch, chain stitch, coral stitch, feather stitch, satin stitch and a few I've made up myself.
And I even had time to do this for the back.
Just got to wait until July now for the finished article.
What would you like to do if you had a whole day to yourself.

That seahorse looks so beautiful - lovely stitch work! Looking forward to seeing the finished article, all the best with it. Joy x

Looks great - I love the seahorse!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The transfers I used were from the 1950s, which I thought was apt as the workshop is called 'making a vintage bag'. Been collecting stuff for years, knew it I would find a use for it eventually.

That is so gorgeous! I love the range of stitches coming into one design, and the colours are so fun! cx
ReplyDeleteThank you. Never thought I'd find a use for variegated threads before, but they make good seaweed.

Wow, that is so intricate and beautiful! Lovely, lovely embroidery.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's been a great project for trying lots of stitches. I didn't plan, except to grab some colours from my stash, and then set off. Really enjoyed it. Hope I manage to make the bag ok.
